Patients with atrial fibrillation face a stroke risk approximately five times higher than that of the general population, and among patients with non-valvular atrial fibrillation, over 90% of atrial thrombi originate in the left atrial appendage (LAA). Left atrial appendage occlusion has been demonstrated to reduce the risk of stroke in atrial fibrillation patients by approximately 80%. To optimize the biocompatibility and long-term stability of occlusion devices, we have developed the "4D-Printed Bionic Left Atrial Appendage Occluder." Based on bionic principles, this product utilizes 4D printing technology to construct a network structure that mimics the stress-strain behavior of LAA tissue, enabling synergistic deformation with surrounding tissues while providing enhanced stiffness to ensure reliable structural support at the occlusion site. This design aims to improve device fit, stability, and tissue integration, offering a safer, more durable, and personalized treatment option for stroke prevention in patients with atrial fibrillation.
